Some in process and some mostly finished RPI5/Hudiy installation photos in a double Din cage for a 1995 Subaru SVX. This is like the 4th version of this CarPC. A change since the photos was replacing the twisted HDMI cable with CYFPV HDMI adapters and ribbon cable. Parts in the cage include the display, the RPI5, a Pcie under-hat, A geeek heat-sink/fan and the CarPiHat Pro. Also in the cage is a relay to power a USB hub via the CarPIHat 5V output, a 7 port USB 3 hub (12V), a RTL-SDR and a currently unused 12V to 5V buck converter (original plan was to use a 5V hub and it may be used to power the screen if the USB powering proves inadequate). The back connectors are Deutsch DT series along with audio plugs and the SDR connector. On the hub are the SDR, a Bluetooth and a WiFi adapter to move the signal to a more open part of the metal cage. Planned for the hub is a line to a remote USB socket, a USB backup camera and maybe a USB rotary volume control (old school).

I need to stop doing hardware mods. I am replacing the relay powering the internal hub with one with a variable time delay to allow a bit (1-2 seconds) of startup before the hub is powered. Also cleaned up the assembly a bit while changing to a cm2606 device.

Things were delayed a bit. I planned to do a complete reinstall after bungling the safe shutdown script and ran into a weird NVMe/underhat issue. After wiping the RPi official NVMe, the RPi refused to boot. Booted fine from an SD card. Tested the RPi official NVMe with NIUBI Partition Editor and it showed no NVMe sector failures. Finally surrendered and used a different NVMe stick and all went well. Color me confused. Now working on Hudiy re-installation / setup.

Now have succeed in using the Hudiy updated safe shutdown script with a CarPiHat. Need to adjust the displayed size of Android Auto a bit. I will be asking for help later on automatic backup camera activation and more info on raising and lowering the cars antenna. Those are for later though.

After some hardware modifications and a complete software reload ( I totally bollixed up the safe shutdown software) CarPC running Hudiy is ready as I can make it right now.
Safe shutdown (10 seconds delay) works
Backup camera works by manual selection
Android Auto works and fits the screen well
SDR (software defined radio) works
I need some community help on getting automatic operation/deactivation of the backup camera (by sensing rear backup lights are activated/deactivated).
and some better details on how implement raising and lowering the cars antenna when FM is selected for the music source.
Looks like this winter project is just about ready for car work out doors weather.
