Can you detail a bit to me the functionality of the radio app, i haven’t got the kit yet but i was curious of the functionality it has. does it have auto scan and storage of presets? thanks

Hudiy supports FM radio reception using RTL-SDR dongles. It features auto-scan and basic RDS support (Programme Service and Radio Text). You can also add selected frequencies to your favorites and assign custom names to them in the configuration file.

Parameters related to FM radio are described here https://github.com/wiboma/hudiy/blob/ma ... md#fmradio

Is there a way to have it auto scan and save them all automatically, how do you initiate the scan?

Any hope for adding favourites via the interface rather than config. Think that is the main thing needed here

Please find the explanation of the screenshot below:

1. Current frequency
2. Programme Service - station name (RDS PS)
3. Radio Text - additional information from the station (RDS RT)
4. Add/remove favorite - adds or removes the current station from your favorites list
5. Backward scan - scans downward to the next available station
6. Backward step - decreases frequency by a fixed step (step size is determined by the bandwidth value in the https://github.com/wiboma/hudiy/blob/ma ... md#fmradio)
7. Previous favorite - switches to the previous saved station
8. Start/stop - starts or stops FM reception
9. Next favorite - switches to the next saved station
10. Forward step - increases frequency by a fixed step (step size is determined by the bandwidth value in the https://github.com/wiboma/hudiy/blob/ma ... md#fmradio)
11. Forward scan - scans upward to the next available station

This is really helpful, thank you. I’m sure i would’ve figured it out when i get the adapter but in the meantime this made it clear. Apologies if i missed it, i just didn’t see a breakdown in the manual.

We’ve mostly tested with the R820T2 on our side. From what we know, the V4 versions of these devices need a separate driver (different from the one bundled with the Raspberry Pi OS kernel) – https://www.rtl-sdr.com/v4/

As for DAB support – that’s definitely something we’d like to bring into Hudiy. We’ve already done some initial research on decoding the signal. It looks like quite a bit of work, but it’s definitely doable.

By the way, the picture on this screen looks stunning.

so the one i linked there should be a good bet to order and try, as an initial go. it’s much cheaper than the v4.

dab would be awesome, i think these dongles support it.

The screen is fantastic, it’s the waveshare 8inch 1280 x 800 screen version C. It’s been customized to order with custom cover glass and antiglare and matt coating to get that oem and high quality finish. It’s laminated/optically bonded so incredibly clear, with a 82% NTSC colour gamut so it’s as vibrant as the screens you see today, and makes carplay look 100x clearer.

I recommend them if anyone’s looking for affordable custom screens, I paid a tooling fee that was considerably lower than everywhere else I asked.
