I am working on a Raspberry Pi system for my vehicle and was wondering if I need the CarPlay USB adapter? Does it just provide a wireless/Bluetooth transmitter/receiver to devices that don't have one? I am able to connect my phone to the program just fine with the Raspberry Pi via Bluetooth and play music, make calls, pretty much every other feature displayed seems to work but GPS.

I was also wondering is it possible to integrate GPS from a non cell based source? From what I am seeing practically any app could theoretically be integrated into this app via a browser interface is that correct? Has anyone else messed with this or is it a dead end? Any advice/input would be appreciated!

In Hudiy, the CarPlay USB adapter (CarlinKit CPC200-CCPA or CPC200-Autokit) acts as a CarPlay controller and gateway. Running CarPlay requires authentication via a special MFi chip which is built into the CarlinKit adapters.

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend any solutions at this time. However, there are APIs such as HERE Maps, that could serve as a base for this type of web application.
